- finally got my pallet planters hung!! Yea!!!
- added some spiders to this one.
- not sure what art I want to add to the blue one yet. Can’t wait for the succulents to grow bigger.
- I think this one is my favorite – again, I want to add something to it to give it some more punch.
- You can find free pallets at most business for free – just be sure to ask them first. Find a pallet that is in good shap, no big cracks or splits. Mark a line to the side of the center brace where you will make your cuts.
- Cut your pallet in half and save the cast off piece to make the flower box bottoms.
- Measure and cut the bottom pieces. I suggest you drill the drain holes before you attach them, some of the slats are in awkward positions and hard to get to.
- File off any rough edges. Don’t worry too much about this, we are not dealing with fine wood!
- Pick a paint color or stand that makes you happy. I selected bold colors for my backyard.
- The yellow on is complete and I have made all the cuts for the red one.
- Two of the three are done and now it’s time to plant them up.
- I selected a variety of succulents for this project.
- All three are done and waiting to be hung!
- This one and the next one were made from the same pallet. I did a rustic red and black finish leaving some of the wood exposed and then stained the whole thing.
- These two went on the front of my house and I planted them with traditional house plants since they don’t get direct sun and are protected.

thanks for the props!
You are welcome. Happy August to you!
This is a great post! I’m always looking for innovative ideas to get more growing space. Thank you.
It was so fun and easy to do – after I did the first one the rest just came together. There’s no limit to the colors, finishes, plants or art. I just tend to like bold colors. I’m working on a potting bench right now.
